I Can Fix This
By Kristina Kuzmic
This book was difficult to read, but honest and humble, and full of parenting struggles we all face. The author is trying to be the best mom she can be while her son is dealing with a drug addiction and suicidal thoughts. As she bends and breaks to help him be okay, she starts to learn that helping isn’t always healing, and she can’t make her son well by doing what she thinks should help. It created a deep discussion in book club, as we all reflected on our ideas of a “good mom” as well as how our own parents helped and hindered us growing up. Mostly, we’re all doing the best we can, but sometimes we can learn to do things different.
